The Federal Aviation Administration recognized that compliance with this specification will result in a high degree of standardization of content and format for all aircraft types.

Normal procedures such as spin recovery techniques may also be included in this Section of an acrobatic category airplane Handbook.

Environmental Systems section shall contain information necessary for safe operation of Oxygen Systems, including capacity and duration.

If the Check List lists "engine run-up", the amplified procedures would explain how to perform the run-up.

The Check List may also contain supplemental information pertinent to the operation of the airplane, such as performance data, optional equipment operation, etc., that the pilot might routinely use.

The Check List may be arranged by "Challenge" and "Response" headings for two pilot airplanes or by "Item" and "Condition" headings for single pilot airplanes. Under either method, the item to be checked is listed with the desired condition stated.

Airspeeds used in this Section shall be specified in Indicated Airspeed, assuming zero instrument error, in order to make the information as directly usable as possible.

Fig.1 in pages 11 and 12 are typical plating/skin illustrations as specified in System Chapters 53,54, 55 and 57.

A separate shading pattern to distinguish between supply, pressure, return, etc, shall be used. The same coding for each individual system shall be used throughout the manual.

Any revisions to a Maintenance Manual made necessary due to modifications of an airplane after delivery are the responsibility of the holder of the type design approval of the modification.

This specification was developed by representatives of member companies of the General Aviation Manufacturers Association for use in preparing Manufacturers Maintenance Data, in manual form, that will serve as a guide for the maintenance of airplanes in a continuous airworthy condition.
