Vertical pages rather than horizontal are preferred for all types of publication.

Under the title "Emergency" in Chapter 25 are those items of equipment carried for use in emergency procedures. Includes items such as evacuation equipment, life rafts and jackets, first aid kit, landing and signal flares, evacuation signaling systems, etc., if furnished as manufacturer-designated standard equipment. Does not include fire extinguishers, oxygen equipment or masks.

The adjustment/test description shall provide instructions for accomplishment of a test or check to assure the integrity as an operational component of a system, subsystem or unit assembly. Such tests or checks will vary in complexity and stringency according to the conditions under which the unit functions. It is not intended that a complex functional test of a complete system and its attendant closer tolerances be performed if the unit replaced reactiviates the system and operates within the confines of a go-no-go specification .

Deactivation/Reactivation procedures for circuits, systems, units, etc., shall be included. This is important because during maintenance, certain components may need to be deactivated for safety reasons or to prevent damage to the aircraft or equipment. It is also important to have instructions for reactivating these components once maintenance is complete to ensure that they are functioning properly and do not pose a risk to the safety of the aircraft or its occupants.

The cooled air from the air cycle machine can no longer hold the quantity of water it could when it was warm. A water separator is used to remove the water from the saturated air before it is sent to the aircraft cabin. Foggy air from the ACM condenses and coalesces the mist into larger water drops in the water separator. The water collects on the sides of the separator and drains down and out of the unit, while the dry air passes through.

The yaw damper works by sensing any yaw motion and then applying corrective inputs to the aircraft＇s rudder to reduce or eliminate any unwanted yawing. It is particularly useful in minimizing the effects of turbulence or other external disturbances that can cause yawing and make the aircraft harder to control. The yaw damper is an important safety feature that helps to improve the overall stability and control of the aircraft, especially during critical phases of flight such as takeoff and landing.

Polyurethane is used for producing the fuselage, wing tips, and other curved parts of small aircraft; relatively inexpensive, fuel resistant, and compatible with most adhesives; do not use a hot wire to cut polyurethane foam; easily contoured with a large knife and sanding equipment.

Circle-to-land maneuver is the maneuver made by the pilot to align the aircraft with the landing runway when a linear instrument approach is not possible or required. At tower control airports, air traffic control clearance must be obtained and a visual reference of the airport must be established before such maneuvers can be performed.

Distribution of air conditioning system is used to induct and distribute air. Includes equipment rack cooling systems and items such as blowers, scoops, ducting, inlets, check valves, etc. Does not include valves which are part of pressurization and temperature control.

There are three types of placards and markings. A. Safety Data: These placards and markings are used for the flight crew, and passenger cabins, and for equipment safety. They include WARNINGS and CAUTIONS. B. Maintenance Data: These are servicing and maintenance instructions. C. By Local Regulation: The aircraft must have these placards and markings. When these types of placards are shown in Chapter 11, they are identified by (1).

Functional Test: That procedure required to ascertain that a system or unit is functioning in all aspects in accordance with minimum acceptable system or unit design specifications . These tests may require supplemental ground support equipment and should be more specific and detailed than an operational test. It should contain all necessary information to perform proficiency test to maintain system or unit reliability at an acceptable level ,without reference to additional documents.
