This Section of the Pilot's Operating Handbook shall describe the airplane in a manner considered by the manufacturer to be most informative to the kind of pilot considered most likely to operate the airplane. The paragraph order and detail in this Section need not be followed in a Handbook.
A turn coordinator senses and indicates the rate of both roll and yaw. The rotor of the gyro in a turn coordinator is canted upwards 30°. As such, it responds not only to movement about the vertical axis, but also to roll movements about the longitudinal axis.
NOTE: The Preface has been omitted in the sample CAP in Section III and the necessary information has been included in the Objectives.
It is expected that the manufacturers of major components will provide maintenance, troubleshooting, inspection and repair data in the format of this specification. However, power sources, bus systems, relays, circuit breakers, switches and other items that are common to a particular make and model are to be shown and described as necessary in the basic airframe Maintenance Manual.
The effects of corrosion have not been considered in the rationale in selecting inspection times or in the effects on the fatigue stresses. It is very difficult to determine the effects of corrosion but, as the reports from the CAP inspections are received, the inspection times will be adjusted for any severe problems.
In aircraft maintenance, servicing refers to that servicing required on units as the result of the accomplishment of any other maintenance practice. It includes items such as the inflation or refilling of shock struts, the lubrication of control systems, the sterilizing of potable water systems, etc.
The adjustment/test description shall provide instructions for accomplishment of a test or check to assure the integrity as an operational component of a system, subsystem or unit assembly. Such tests or checks will vary in complexity and stringency according to the conditions under which the unit functions. It is not intended that a complex functional test of a complete system and its attendant closer tolerances be performed if the unit replaced reactiviates the system and operates within the confines of a go-no-go specification .
There are three types of placards and markings. A. Safety Data: These placards and markings are used for the flight crew, and passenger cabins, and for equipment safety. They include WARNINGS and CAUTIONS. B. Maintenance Data: These are servicing and maintenance instructions. C. By Local Regulation: The aircraft must have these placards and markings. When these types of placards are shown in Chapter 11, they are identified by (1).
Revisions to a drawing are necessitated by changes in dimensions, design, or materials. When drawings contain such corrections, attention is directed to the changes by lettering or numbering them and listing those changes against the symbol in a revision block.
The portion of the system which is used to store and deliver hydraulic fluid to using systems. Includes items such as tanks, accumulators, valves, pumps, levers, switches, cables, plumbing, external connectors, etc. Does not include the supply valves to the using systems.
